Self-compassion and its Relationship to the positive generalization among University Students

Abstract

This research aims to examine self-compassion and positive generalization among university students, as well as the correlation between them. To achieve these, the researchers adopted the self-compassion scale developed by Neff (2003) and translated into Arabic by Al-Ta'i (2024). The final version of the scale consisted of 26 items, the scale of positive generalization developed by Carver et al. (2008), which was translated into Arabic by Khudair (2023). This scale consisted of 16 items in its final version. The sample consisted of 200 students selected from the University of Baghdad. The research findings showed that university students have self-compassion and positive generalization. There is no significant difference in the relationship between self-compassion and positive generalization in terms of gender. There is a positive correlation between self-compassion and positive generalization among university students.
